Aims and Scope

Turkish Medical Student Journal is the first scientific journal in Turkey to be run by medical students and to publish works of medical students since 2014. In that respect, Turkish Medical Student Journal encourages and enables all students of medicine to conduct research and to publish their valuable research in all branches of medicine.

TMSJ is an independent, non-profit, double-blind peer-reviewed, open-access journal; which aims to publish articles of interest to physicians, scientists, and medical students. TMSJ is published three times a year, in February, June, and October by Trakya University. The language of publication is English. Correspondent authors of the articles should be a medical student.

The journal publishes researches, interesting case reports and reviews regarding all fields of medicine and health sciences. The primary aim of the journal is to publish original articles with high scientific and ethical quality and serve as a good example of medical publications for those who plan to build a career in medicine. Turkish Medical Student Journal believes that quality of publication will contribute to the progress of medical sciences as well as encourage medical students to think critically and share their hypotheses and research results internationally.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Author(s) and copyright owner(s) grant access to all users for the articles published in the Turkish Medical Student Journal as free of charge. Articles may be used provided that they are cited. The authors agree to transfer the commercial rights to the Turkish Medical Student Journal when the article is accepted for publication. The copyright of the published article belongs to its author under CC BY-NC-ND license.

Open Access Policy is based on rules of Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI). By “open access” to [peer-reviewed research literature], we mean its free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself. The only constraint on reproduction and distribution, and the only role for copyright in this domain, should be to give authors control over the integrity of their work and the right to be properly acknowledged and cited.

Turkish Medical Student Journal does not demand any subscription fee or similar payment for access to electronic resources.

The journal’s content is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial (CC BY-NC-ND) 4.0 International License. Under this Open Access license, you as the author agree that anyone can copy, distribute or reuse the content of your article for non-commercial purposes for free as long as the author and original source are properly cited.

Open access is an approach that supports interdisciplinary development and encourages collaboration between different disciplines. Therefore, the Turkish Medical Student Journal contributes to the scientific publishing literature by providing more access to its articles and a more transparent review process.

This journal's advertising sales and editorial processes are separated to ensure editorial independence and reduce the effects of financial interests.
